Planning a wedding can be a lot of fun, but it can, also, be overwhelming! After many years in the floral profession I have witnessed all kinds of weddings from chaotic to organized. I've learned a lot about weddings and I'd like to share some helpful ideas that may help you enjoy planning your special day:
- Remember that you are planning a fun and elegant celebration. It should be enjoyable even in the planning stage.
- Don’t read too many wedding guides or ask too many people for their opinions. Instead, gather photos and colors that please you, even if your photos feature very different styles and tastes. I want to see what you have in mind. I will help you find the common, unifying factor that defines your style and taste. This is where the magic begins to happen.
- Stay focused on the fact that it's a celebration and planning it should be enjoyable.
- Select your ceremony location and reception facility before selecting your florist.
- Stay focused on the fact that it’s a celebration and planning it should be enjoyable (Are you sensing a pattern here?).
- Call your florist and schedule a consultation. You need to feel comfortable with your florist. Your florist should listen and advise you, not tell you what you want. Your florist has a professional responsibility to tell you when he thinks you are making a mistake, but he should also enable you to arrive at your planning destination without insulting you. Your florist should demonstrate flexibility in order to help with the inevitable changes that will occur as you plan your special day.
- Stay focused on the fact that it’s a celebration and should be enjoyable. (Just a reminder in case you forgot)
- When you wake up on the day of your wedding, remind yourself that you have hired professionals that you trust. Trust them to do their job so that you can relax and enjoy your day. Remember that you carry your wedding memories with you for a lifetime.
- Stay focused on the fact that it’s a celebration and should be enjoyable.( Ok, ok. I will stop reminding you now. Have fun!)
